We had a lovely day on Friday at Hoy Heritage Centre for the Orkney Nature Festival event run by artist Diana Leslie. We learned the art of Suminigashi – floating ink – an ancient Japanese marbling technique. Our prints echoed shapes in nature – tree rings, clouds and water to the inside of a cabbage. Beautiful swirling shapes made by the action of air on water. It was a blowy day and even the air circulating the kirk made its impression. Thank you to Diana and to the participants and to our funders the Coop Community Fund. Look out for more Art & Nature events this summer at Hoy Heritage Centre.
