We’ve got butterflies at Hoy Kirk! Over 100 paper butterflies made by islanders of all ages as part of a community artwork have landed in the kirk. Participants included the Haey Hope Club, Hoy & Walls Craft Club, North Walls School and Carolyn’s Beach Gallery Art Group.
The butterflies will be on display until Wednesday 11 July.
The temporary display links well with our permanent display of Hoy moths and butterflies ‘Hoy Lepidoptera’. The collection was once on show at the Hoy Inn and was gifted to Hoy Kirk and restored by the Hoy heritage project under Sydney Gauld at the Biodiversity dept at Orkney Archives.
