Thank you to the Orkney International Science Festival for including the Hoy Kirk in their festival programme. In fact you can mark your diaries for next year because the Science Fest and the Hoy Kirk are in a committed relationship! It’s love.
This year the theme of Orkney boat building went down really well with around 90 people (we lost count). Remarkably everyone got a plate of lentil soup and the beer keg lasted for at least the first half hour. Thank you to the Hoy Kirk committee who work so hard and to the festival for their ongoing support of the Hoy Kirk – and for the Orkney beer keg they sent over.

Speakers Dennis Davidson and Len Wilson

The people heading for the boat home were treated to the Northern Lights (the Merry Dancers as they are called in Orkney) on their way down the hill to the pier. All that and a full moon.

The next event at Hoy Kirk is the concert this Sunday the 24th with Orkney Camerata and Hoy Sound at 2:30pm.
