We have a lovely evening planned for Friday 27 November with a showing of the 1982 film ‘Songs of Hoy’. The film features the suite of songs composed by Rackwick’s own Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, or Max as he is better known hereabouts, and the children of Hoy. They were children then and many have children of their own now. Come along, spot yourself and enjoy a trip back in time.
Also taking us back in time is archaeologist Dan Lee. Dan is well know in the parish and has been recording sites around Hoy with the community including Braebister and Rackwick. Dan is interested in contemporary archaeology and finding traces of the 1967 televised climb of the Old Man of Hoy and the Rackwick Snack Van. As ever, your involvement is keenly welcomed. Do you have any snack van photos?
The usual warm welcome awaits at Hoy Kirk with soup and sandwiches from 6:45pm. For those coming from the mainland the evening will hook in with the ferry service leaving Stromness at 5:45 and going back at 10pm. This is operated by Orkney Ferries.
